Hotel Del Coronado
The Hotel Del Coronado is a classic hotel that was built in 1890. The rooms are a little small, as far as today's standards go, but still have character and charm. The elevators still have doormen; something that is very unusual to see. We stayed at The Hotel Del Coronado about 25 years ago and it is as admirable today as it was back then.
The water taxi was an enjoyable ride over to the city. Convenient, inexpensive, and enjoyable. This, I recommend!

Re: Hotel Del Coronado
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary and couldn't help feeling a little bit disappointed with the prices. We were fine with the initial room rate... but when it came to incidentals, we felt cheated. How can they justify charging those outrageous prices for a simple pot of coffee in your room?
As far as the hotel itself, the accomodations were beautiful. We stayed in the private little Beach Village. Nothing better than waking up to the sound of the ocean right outside your door! This hotel is old yet has a classic feel to it with a lot of history.
There is a beautiful spa on site. Prices are outrageous but if money is not an issue, there is an extensive menu of spa treatments that are available to you.
We had Sunday brunch at the restaurant there, the Crown Room. Rumor has it, it was voted the best brunch in all of San Diego. After having it, I can see why!
All-in-all, if money is no object, I would recommend this hotel for a wonderful and romantic get-away.
