Re: Doubletree Del Mar
This hotel is located in an industrial area and is very quiet on the weekends. There is a strip mall nearby that has Starbucks, Panda Express, Jamba Juice, and a grocery store. What I loved most about this Doubltree Hotel was the main pool. It is large and "T" shaped which seemed to keep the kids splashing in one section while the other section was more for the actual swimmers. For those that prefer to sunbathe, there were plenty of lounge chairs to do just that.
This hotel allows pets so for those of you that are allergic to cat or dog hair, this might not be the best place for you though I believe that the animal rooms are all on one floor.
I'd stay here again when visiting the North County as I found this hotel to be conveniently located not only in Del Mar but near Torrey Pines, Solana beach, Carlsbad and Rancho Sante Fe.

Re: Doubletree Del Mar
We drove from Fresno to visit my parents in Del Mar. Instead of staying at their house as we usually do, we decided to get a room for three nights at The DoubleTree. After driving for over 5 hours, we were so happy to get to the hotel and were greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies at the check-in counter. What a nice gesture that was! Room was large enough, parking was free, and free shuttle to take people to and from the fairgrounds/racetrack. All in all, a nice hotel to stay at.
