Grand Colonial Hotel in La Jolla
If you are going to visit La Jolla, stay at the Grand Colonial Hotel. It is right in the center of the town, walking distance to everything. You do not need to use your car. The hotel is elegant and classy. It also has a great restaurant, Nine-Ten. Some rooms have ocean views. You may do a lot of traveling, but the combination of great service, awesome location, nice decor, with the best restaurant in town will be hard to equal. I rate this as one of my favorite hotels anywhere.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 of our 10 day trip to California and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is very close to many shops and fabulous restaurants, and a quick little walk to the beach. We had a standard room which was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was just ok. No counter space what-so-ever due to pedestal sinks.
Service at this hotel was good. You do need to order ice through the front desk because ice machines were no where to be found. Very important.... DO NOT ORDER ICE AND WATER THROUGH ROOM SERVICE OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED + tax + tip! If you order it through the front desk, there is no charge for it.
All in all, a fabulous hotel with wonderful service. Gorgeous location too!

We have always been attracted to the charm of La Jolla. The people are friendly and "real". They are not pretentious though most of them live a rather lavish lifestyle. We visit La Jolla in April and October and happened to choose the Grande Colonial this last trip out. All we knew about it was what our travel consultant had told us...."It is a small and comfortable hotel with a touch of luxury"
When we arrived, we were in awe of this beautiful seaside hotel. Recently remodeled; we were told that each room is decorated differently. The lobby and common areas were elegant. Service was a 10 and the hotel restaurant was out of this world. Everything about this hotel from the valet service, check-in and out service, accommodations, and dining experience was fabulous.
