Decent place to stay for a night. I travel a lot for business and try to stay at Holiday Inn Express Hotels. I always know what I am getting. There are never any surprises. The rates can't be beat for a chain such as this. They serve a good comp breakfast in the morning that really holds me over until dinner.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and can generally get a room without any problems however they do get a lot busier during the horse race season, whenever that may be.

I recommend having a car while you stay here. Taxi's can get expensive and it is about a 20-25 minute drive to the airport. The hotel does not charge for overnight parking as many others do in San Diego

Re: Holiday Inn Express Del Mar

Love to stay at this Holiday Inn during the races. A group of us take the train down from Long Beach, get rooms at this hotel, and walk over to the horse races. No parking, No driving, No worries! During the week, there are usually a lot of business travelers but the weekends are quiet. Either way, this is the place to stay if you want a hassle-free time at the races! I've never made it in up in time for the free breakfast but I hear it is pretty good.
