L'Auberge Del Mar a 5 Star Hotel
If you are going to Del Mar, this is the place. You are in the center of the village, walking distance to everything. Across the street there are many fine restaurants. This is a 5 star hotel. The rooms and the grounds are beautiful. The location is the best. This is an expensive hotel. If this is in your price range, you will be happy. If you looking for a budget hotel, this is not your place. Many of the rooms have ocean views if not you are 100 yards to a beautiful park on the ocean.

I won a three night stay to L'Auberge from our school fundraiser. Though we live in the South County, we had never even heard of this hotel. We stayed there last week and had such a great experience that I felt compelled to write a review. We had a deluxe room with a balcony that overlooked a beautiful courtyard. Sufficient space in our room for the four of us. The hotel itself has a great layout. There are several different sitting areas both inside and outside to accommodate those that like to sit and relax in a non-bar environment.
The hotel restaurant was fantastic. As all hotels, a bit overpriced but very convenient when staying at the hotel. if you want to take a nice little walk down the beach, Jake's Restaurant has an outrageous entree-macadamia panco crusted salmon that is served with a wasabi sauce. Ummmmmm it's good!
Torrey Pines State Park (La Jolla) is relatively close and a great place to go for a hike. Bring bottled water as well as a camera for the great sights.

Surprised my wife for our anniversary weekend and took her to L'Auberge Del Mar. (If any guys are reading this, take my advice and do the same. She'll love you for it) We never left the property. Restaurant was outrageous, lobby was really nice with an ocean view. Pool also had ocean view. I booked a facial, massage, maicure and pedicure for my wife and she was thrilled. The only problem is that she is going to expect this kind of treatment every year. Really nice hotel to stay at.
