On stilts above San Diego bay, Island Prime promises great views and a great meal. But there’s a reason the restaurant sits higher than the water—Island Prime is a top-shelf steakhouse that rises above the competition.
Island Prime is collaboration between the Cohn Restaurant group (San Diego’s premiere restauranteurs) and executive chef Deborah Scott (creator of San Diego’s Indigo Grill and Kemo Sabe). As befits the name, all the steaks are USDA prime. On the lighter side, there are seafood, entrée salad, and other meat offerings.
Critics have recognized Island Prime’s superiority. Since it was founded in 2005, Island Prime has been a perennial award-winner, winning Gold Medallions as San Diego’s best steakhouse in 2007 & 2008, among others.
