Summary

Take a short trip up the I-5 to North County, and visit Pizza Port Brewing Company in Carlsbad. Grab a beer (or two) with your pizza! Pizza Port in Carlsbad was named “Large Brewpub Brewer of the Year” by the Great American Beer Festival.

Pizza Port epitomizes the laid-back beach culture of San Diego’s North County with its cafeteria-style seating and weathered wood tables and benches (there are also booths). And while Pizza Port makes several delicious types of thicker-crust pizza, their real triumph is beer. At the Great American Beer Festival, they won six gold medals. Ratebeer.com named them 8th best Brewery in the World.

Pizza Port Brewing Company Information

Restaurant Quick Facts

  • Pizza Port has three locations: in Solana Beach, in Carlsbad, and in San Clemente (that's Orange County). The Carlsbad location has the largest brewing operation.
  • Pizza Port may be a brewery, but it started out as a pizza place. Try the Pizza Vallarta for a spicy chile kick or one of the three "brewery" pies.
  • Pizza Port usually donates some profits to local causes. Download a flyer from their website to donate 20% of your total bill.
  • Where Pizza Port truly shines, though, is the beer. Try a hoppy Wipeout Ale or their signature Red Shark.
  • Seating can be a little chaotic and there isn't table service. But the staff love beer and food, so chat them up.

Love the Pizza Port!

After spending hours upon hours at Moonlight Beach watching our sons surf contest, we were all starved and agreed that pizza (and beer) sounded so good!  Thanks to the iphone, we were led in the right direction... PIZZA PORT!  What a great place it was!  Not your typical pizza place at all.  They have a great menu with some very unique pizzas to choose from.  A ton of beer on draft, and a few games for the kids to play while the adults can sit around and talk.

We were stoked to have found this place and will definitely be back next time we are down south!

Re: Pizza Port Brewing Company

We were so stoked to find a Pizza Port nearby our hotel.  We have eaten at the one in San Clemente several times and always have a good time there.  They have the largest beer menu around.  Something for everyone.  I prefer the Carlsbad Cream Ale while my husband likes the Hop Suey- 9% alcohol.  Pitchers will run you about $14-$19 depending on the brew.  We haven't had a pizza here that we didn't love!  The crust is thin and crispy.  Our fav is the Carlsbad pizza.  It is about $22 for a large and it is plenty big.  Feta cheese, artichoke hearts,  chicken, pesto, and sun-dried tomatoes.  MMMMMM MMMMMMM Good!!!
