- The Agua Hedionda Lagoon - Come to this wonderful lagoon filled with beautiful walking and hiking trails, lovely vegetation, wildlife, and an interesting watershed. Take a stroll down one of the paths that border the lagoon and catch a glimpse of some amazing wildlife such as fish, birds including great blue heron and ducks, as well as plants such as Cat-tail, and much more! Visitors are permitted to fish in designated areas, and boats are allowed on the lagoon, also in certain areas. Stop by the The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center to learn more about the lagoon, conservation efforts, and much more. Visit the center's lovely Native Plant Garden with over 50 species of plant and 750 types. You'll love spending a day at this beautiful natural reserve filled with wildlife and fun in the sun!
Important Information
- All California Fish and Game Laws must be observed and are enforced. An ocean (vs. freshwater) fishing license is required for anyone 16 years and older.
- Open for walk-in traffic only, from sunrise to sunset. It is unlawful to drive a motorized vehicle on a public access when posted for walk-in traffic only.
- Only passive vessels with a valid lagoon use permit may be launched at the Bayshore Drive public access.
- Alcohol is not permitted.
