Tour Stops

  • The Lagoon - Stretching over 223-acres this natural habitat begins at the base of the San Marcos mountains and extends west until it reaches the Pacific Ocean. At least 103 bird species, 18 mammals, and 14 amphibians make the lagoon their home, so you are guaranteed to encounter some wildlife. Fishing and passive recreation are permitted. There are amazing sunsets over the lagoon so bring your camera if your visiting later in the evening.
  • The Nature Center - Next to the lagoon on the northern Oceanside part, there is an informative nature center run by the Buena Vista Audubon Society. The center is open 6 days a week and offers guided nature walks along with classroom programs.
