Coronado Island

Historic landmarks, pristine beaches, and a charming small town vibe are just a few reasons why people love to visit Coronado.

"Take the bridge over, stay an evening if you can...visit the beach, downtown shops, restaurants, the local Theatre and of course the "Del"!"

Tour Stops

  • The Bridge - The island is located just south of downtown San Diego, across the harbor. The bridge that takes you there is a local landmark, which spans over 2 miles and is almost 200 feet off the water at its highest point. Just getting to Coronado is a unique experience because of this massive bridge.
  • The Beaches - The pristine white sand beaches at Coronado are commonly regarded as some of the best in the world. Coronado Central Beach runs along Ocean Boulevard and features lifeguards, a tide-pool, fire pits, and a dog run. Glorietta Bay Beach is located south of the Hotel Del and it offers great views of the bridge as well as a grassy park area. Silver Strand Beach is a hidden gem with lots of sand dollars along the shore.
  • The Town - In 2000, Coronado was awarded the Great American MainStreet award and is considered a truly distinct destination. The beautiful tree-lined Orange Avenue is the heart of the city and features parades, picnics, art, and mom-and-pop shops. Also, be sure to check out the Hotel Del Coronado. This Victorian-masterpiece and national treasure has been in business since 1888.

Coronado Island going back in time

Did you like "Back to the Future"?  Well Coronado Island is like going into a time machine and going back to the 1950's, a very comfortable, pleasant, and safe time. This place is so special because town like this don't exist anymore except in the movies.  There are nice hotels, restaurants, and shops, but you must take it slow, walk and relax.  Go to the movies, play golf, walk on the beach, visit Glorieta Bay, or have a drink.  Get back to the 50's and enjoy the best things in life.

Coronado Island

When you are in San Diego, make sure to visit Coronado Island and check out the beachfront Hotel del Coronado which was built in 1888.  The Island has miles of beautiful white sand beaches with mostly sunny and warm weather.  The town has a mixture of architectural styles from historically preserved Victorians to Spanish villas to beach cottages.  There are a few world-class resorts, golf course, many restaurants, shops, galleries, etc. to explore.  I wished that my visit there was longer because I really enjoyed this relaxing and beautiful place.
