Tour Stops
- History - The Kumeyaay Indians once inhabited this region that is full of beauty and splendor. The park got its name from the Mexican word for owl, which is appropriate since they inhabit the area. The City of San Diego acquired the land in 1978, and they have done a great job to keep the area untouched by developers.
- Things to Do - The canyon has over 6.5 miles of trails that can be used for hiking, mountain biking, and jogging. The newly built nature center offers guests an educational experience about the local plant life and animal species. The center is also available for meetings, workshops and other group events.
Important Information
- Bring plenty of water and sunscreen if you plan on hiking through the park.
