Tour Stops
- The Torrey Pine - Why is this area so valuable? Thanks to some foresight, conservationists have kept this area untouched offering the most pristine landscape in all of Southern California. The Torrey Pine tree is the rarest plant species in the United States, because it is a combination of two plants. The reserve is home to thousands of the rare pines ranging from small to large sizes.
- Hiking Trails - Here is a listing of the most popular trails in the reserve, which will take you to different parts of the park. The Guy Fleming Trail is a 2/3 mile loop that offers easy trails and great views. The Parry Grove Trail is a 1/2 mile loop that is very secluded and has a steep entry. The Razor Point Trail is a 2/3 mile to point with dramatic gorge views and limited shade. The Beach Trail is a 3/4 mile walk down to Flat Rock and the beach, which is the least scenic but offers beach access. Finally, the Broken Hill Trail will take you to a scenic overlook and is 1.2 miles long.
- Los Penasquitos Marsh - This is a natural reserve within the park that offers different ecological diversity. The area was formed 10-20 thousand years ago from a melting glacier. You will find an abundance of diverse bird species and unique plants.
Important Information
- Hikers are advised to carry water with them since there is limited shade in some areas.
- Food and drink other than water is NOT permitted in the park.
- Parking is available in the north part of the park on the Coast Highway, and there is an $8 fee for each car that enters the park.

Torrey Pine Reserve and Park
If you want a to visit one of the most incredible coastlines in the United States, it is right here near La Jolla and Del Mar. Walk, jog, hike, road bike, and mountain bike in paradise is right here in Torrey Pines Reserve and Park. I was on vacation, but if I lived in this area I would be very happy to visit this park every day. Natural beauty to the max!

Torrey Pine Reserve & Park
The reserve is 15 miles North of La Jolla. It is an incredible place with excellent hiking trails. I had a great hike through the area, and enjoyed the spectacular view overlooking the Pacific. Picnic is allowed on Torrey Pine State Beach but not in the reserve. You will enjoy acres of natural beauty highlight the rarest pine in the nation, the cliffs, and beaches.
